A real-time analysis system for Stem Cell culture analysis

A Scottish company specialising in the GMP production, analysis and commercialisation of Stem Cells for drug discovery is seeking academic or industrial partners with "real-time" processes and/or devices to optimise the efficiency of stem cell culture and production for technical co-operation.

Detalles

Numerous research groups and commercial companies are developing techniques to use stem cells to treat chronic, incurable conditions such as Diabetes, Parkinsons and Spinal injury. The widespread use of these treatments will rely critically on the capacity to produce stem cells in very large quantities in a cost effective and safe manner.

Large scale production of mammalian systems (e.g. CHO cells) is extremely stable and predictive, however stem cells are fundamentally unstable as they have an inherent desire to spontaneously differentiate into cells of a different type.

Consequently Stem Cell production techniques are inefficient, critically dependent on skilled operators and developed by trial and error with little process optimisation. This is due largely to the lack of real time analysis and monitoring technologies.

For this reason the company is seeking partners with real time analysis and monitoring technologies for off-line quantitative measures of the status of human stem cells in order to address this major hurdle facing regenerative medicine.

By developing more optimised protocols and processes they intend to dramatically improve the manufacturing costs associated with stem cell production. Technical Specifications / Specific technical requirements: The company seeks processes for optimising the efficiency of stem cell culture. Real time cell analysis for example, to distinguish different types of cells based on their physical properties, surface markers, impedance measurements, O2 measurements, metabolite analysis etc.

Technology must be capable of complying with the requirements of good manufacturing practice (GMP) for the production of cells for clinical use.
